MONTEREY COUNTY, Calif. — The Community Foundation for Monterey County (CFMC), which supports nonprofit organizations, scholarships and local initiatives across the county, is preparing for a leadership transition. Gina Dalma is scheduled to become the organization’s next president and CEO on November 9, 2026.
The foundation announced the appointment following a national search. Dalma will succeed Dan Baldwin, who plans to retire in December, according to the foundation’s official announcement.
Who is Gina Dalma?
Dalma brings more than 20 years of philanthropic and nonprofit leadership experience. She previously held leadership roles at the Silicon Valley Community Foundation and has worked on programs involving community investment, charitable giving and organizations serving diverse populations.
CFMC Board Chair Elsa Mendoza Jimenez said the appointment followed a search for a leader with both executive experience and a commitment to the foundation’s countywide mission.
Why local nonprofits should follow the transition
CFMC works with community organizations in Salinas, Monterey, North County, South County and rural communities to support programs ranging from education and youth services to health, arts, food access and the environment.
Its grant opportunities include Impact grants, regional funding programs and support for eligible small organizations. Eligibility, deadlines and award sizes vary by program; a change in CEO does not automatically change existing grant rules.
In 2026, CFMC’s Small Grants program offered awards in the $10,000–$20,000 range to eligible organizations serving county residents. Applicants are advised to verify current cycles and fiscal sponsorship rules before applying.
Leadership transition underway
The foundation recently recognized community donors and scholarship recipients during its 2026 Celebration of Philanthropy. Incoming leader Dalma participated in that event alongside Baldwin, reinforcing that the transition is already underway.
Residents, nonprofit directors and potential donors can learn about the foundation’s mission and current programs at cfmco.org.
