MONTEREY, Calif. — October 27, 2026. The Monterey County Board of Supervisors’ legislative record lists a ceremonial resolution honoring the Monterey Bay Fisheries Trust during National Seafood Month, drawing attention to a regional effort to help commercial fishing communities adapt to changing conditions.
The county item CR 26-128 recognizes the trust and the launch of “From Trends to Action,” an initiative linked to its broader Future of Blue work. The online legislative detail marks the resolution passed on October 27.
What From Trends to Action means
The initiative follows a September 2026 Monterey Bay commercial fisheries status-and-trends report prepared with research and regional partners. The trust describes the work as using fisheries, economic and environmental information alongside the experience of working fishermen to identify practical needs.
A related Moss Landing Fisheries Resilience Pilot, covering July 2026 through June 2027, focuses on the harbor’s working waterfront. Project descriptions call for discussions among fishermen, harbor leadership, researchers and economic-development groups about infrastructure and long-term adaptation priorities.
The pilot is a planning and collaboration effort, not proof that a new breakwater, harbor expansion or specific construction project is already funded or approved. The fishery report also should not be mistaken for a report released for the first time on October 27; the regional assessment was introduced in September.
Why residents and businesses should follow it
Commercial fishing supports local docks, seafood businesses and jobs from Moss Landing to Monterey and the wider bay. The assessment offers a starting point for examining fleet and landing trends and for asking what investment communities need. The ceremonial resolution does not by itself commit a new county spending amount.
