MONTEREY, Monterey County — October 27, 2026. Street maintenance and pedestrian accessibility are the focus of a city transportation investment. On its September 1 Council agenda, Monterey included authorization for a $1,610,351 construction contract with Mission Constructors for the Cass and El Dorado Street curb-ramp and roadway rehabilitation project.
What the financing records show
The municipal agenda also listed an appropriation of $374,525.11 from the Measure P/S Fund to support the project. The named construction-contract sum is not automatically the total final cost after design, change orders or completion.
What residents should monitor
Replacing deteriorated pavement and improving curb ramps can benefit wheelchair users, pedestrians and drivers, but an agenda action does not verify that work is completed, that every corner is accessible or that a specific street is closed today. For live construction notices, check the city’s Public Works updates and roadway signs.
Residents interested in the use of local sales-tax revenue can follow the oversight of Measures P and S and review contract amendments, final costs and inspection results.
